Saskia Hölbling
Saskia Hölbling (born March 6, 1971 in Vienna ) is an Austrian choreographer and dancer .
life and work
Her first pieces were created during her studies at the Vienna Conservatory from 1991 to 1995. She then continued her studies at the PARTS dance academy in Brussels until 1997, led by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker . In 1996 she received a danceWeb grant and in 2001 a grant for Atelier du Monde / Montpellier Danse 2001. In 1995, Hölbling founded her company DANS.KIAS . Since then she has been one of the few Austrian choreographers with an independent company. She created around 20 pieces for her troupe based in Vienna.
Saskia Hölbling also created choreographies for existing contemporary music . In cooperation with the Vienna Pocket Opera, the productions of the two music theater productions Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda by Claudio Monteverdi and A-Ronne by Luciano Berio were created in 2002 . In 2004 she developed a choreography with four dancers for the interactive live performance Labyrinth in collaboration with the composer Wolfgang Mitterer and the video artist Alexej Paryla. In 2009 she worked again with the Vienna Taschenoper and directed three other works by Luciano Berio: Naturale , Visage and Sequenza V .
In addition, she regularly works with artists from other fields, such as in 2005 when Hölbling contributed the reading performance Vom Sinn des Sinns for the project Philosophy on Stage by the philosopher Arno Böhler and the actress Susanne Ganzer . In 2008 she created the duet fiction in between together with the French dancer and choreographer Fabrice Ramalingom . In 2009, Hölbling directed the theater for the first time and brought Die Hamletmaschine (by Heiner Müller ) onto the stage with students from the Max Reinhardt seminar .
As a dancer, Saskia Hölbling also worked in works by Bob Wilson (USA), the company W. Dorner (Austria), Laurent Pichaud (France) and Benoît Lachambre (Canada) and others and also holds workshops at the Vienna Conservatory in the field of “Contemporary Dance ”or gives block seminars at the Max Reinhardt Seminar for Actors.
In June 2009, Hölbling acted as a mentor and took over coaching for young choreographers as part of Stückwerk09 at Tanzquartier Wien .
Creation and alignment
In 2000 Saskia Hölbling received the Prix d'Auteur du Conseil Général de Seine-Saint Denis / Bagnolet for Do your desires still burn , and in 2002 she was awarded the Austrian Dance Production Prize for other feature .
During the opening of the Tanzquartier Wien in 2001 she presented her solo rrr… (“reading, readings, reading”), which she had developed together with the choreographer Benoît Lachambre and the video artist Laurent Goldring.
While in intent / frame I and II (2000 and 2001) she was still working with small interpersonal relationships and behavioral patterns, with other feature (2002) she understood the naked human body as a mobile, organic mass. This continued with Solo exposition corps (2003) and superposition corps (2004). In secret sight (2009) the spaces and lines between the bodies are examined and explored. In pictographic events (2010) finally working with a larger pool of signs and body images.
