The Satel Film GmbH is an Austrian film production company based in Vienna . In addition to the production of feature films and television, the company also produces documentaries, television series and commercials.
The most famous productions of Satel Film include Kottan determined , the long-term series Schlosshotel Orth , the Andreas Hofer biography Andreas Hofer - Die Freiheit des Adler , the political thriller Opernball , the television films Healer I and Healer II and the crime series SOKO Donau , which in Germany is broadcast under the title SOKO Vienna .
history
Satel Film was founded in 1971 by the former Sascha Film shareholder Michael Wolkenstein , the electronics group Philips-Polygram and the Creditanstalt-Bankverein . Until 1999, Philips-Polygram was the main shareholder of Satel Film. When Philips basically withdrew from the film business in 1999, the German Bavaria-Film took over these shares, which at around 65% make up almost two thirds of the company.
Satel co-founder Michael Wolkenstein headed the company for 35 years and in 2006 handed over the management to his son Oswald Wolkenstein , who retired a little later and has been head of Comtel-Film ever since. Heinrich Ambrosch has been the managing partner of Satel Film since January 1, 2007 .
Subsidiaries of Satel are Almaro Film- und TV-Produktions- und Vertriebs GmbH, Arabella Film-, Musik- und Buch Verlag GesmbH and ACT-Media TV-Produktionsservice GmbH.
TV commissioned productions were carried out by Satel Film for numerous European TV stations, for example ARD , ZDF , ARTE , Arts & Entertainment , BR , CBS , France 2 , France 3 , Granada TV , KRO , Mediaset MTV , NDR , ORF , PRO7 , Rai Uno , Rai Due , Sat.1 , SWF , WDR , Yorkshire TV .
Satel Film is a member of the Association of Austrian Film Producers - AAFP, of which Heinrich Ambrosch is a member of the board.
