Saturzi (Ukrainian Затурці ; Russian Затурцы / Saturzy , Polish Zaturce ) is a Ukrainian village in the Volyn Oblast with about 1900 inhabitants (2001).

On September 28, 2017, the village became the center of the newly established rural community of Saturzi ( Затурцівська сільська громада Saturziwska silska hromada ). At that includes also the 12 villages Hranatiw (Гранатів) Juniwka (Юнівка) Kwassowyzja (Квасовиця), Maly Okorsk (Малий Окорськ) Sadiwski Dubyny (Садівські Дубини) Schelwiw , Semerynske (Семеринське) Sirnytschky (Сірнички) Subylne (Зубильне) Velyky Okorsk (Великий Окорськ) Wilka-Sadiwska (Вілька-Садівська) and Wojnyn (Войнин), previously formed the village together with the villages Juniwka , Kwassowyzja , Maly Okorsk , Velyky Okorsk and Wilka-Sadiwska the same district municipality .
geography
The village is located in Lokatschi Rajon , about 15 kilometers northeast of the district capital Lokachi and about 38 kilometers west of the Oblast capital Lutsk . The next larger town is Kyssylyn, about 9 km to the north . The sources of the Turija are located at Saturzi .
history
The earliest mentions of the place go back to the 14th century. After the church union of Brest , the settlement of Catholic churches and monasteries was promoted. The Catholic Trinity Church was built in the village as a monastery church in 1642 . The Lipiński family ( Lypynskyj in Ukrainian ) were the big landowners in the village under feudalism , and their mansion has been preserved to this day.
The former Zaturce belonged to the aristocratic republic of Poland (in the Volhynian Voivodeship ) until the 3rd Polish partition and then came to the Russian Empire , where it was in the Volhynian governorate . In 1893 the monastery was then secularized. During the First World War the place was directly on the Austro-Russian front; from June 1916 until the end of the war the front ran right through the town. Mainly due to the Brusilov offensive , the place changed hands several times and there was considerable destruction.
In 1918/1921 it fell to Poland and came to the Volyn Voivodeship in the Powiat Horochów , Gmina Kisielin . As a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact , the Soviet Union occupied the area. After the German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, the place was under German rule until 1944 (in the Reichskommissariat Ukraine ), then came back to the Soviet Union after the Second World War and was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR . Saturzi has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991.
Between 1946 and September 30, 1957, the place was the center of the Saturzi Rajon of the same name , after which its area became part of Lokatschi Rajon. The Rajon existed since 1940 with the Rajonszentrum Kyssylyn, which was relocated to Osjutytschi in 1940 .
