Schafberg is a village and a cadastral municipality in the Grafenschlag municipality in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria . The place is about 740 meters above sea level north of Grafenschlag west of the federal highway Grafenschlag – Zwettl . The Schmelzenhof in the western Roitenbachtal was abandoned in the 1960s and later demolished.

It was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1286 as "Schafpergch", the name indicates the hilly terrain that serves as a sheep pasture. He belonged to the rule of Zwettl Abbey , after 1850 the place was part of the Grafenschlag community.
