Schalqar ( Kazakh Шалқар ; Russian Шалкар Schalkar ) is a city in western Kazakhstan .

Schalqar is located in the Aqtöbe area .
history
As early as 1870 there was a small settlement on the site of the present-day town, which was connected to Yrghys by a road . With the construction of the Trans-Aral Railway from Orenburg to Tashkent at the beginning of the 20th century, the place gained increasing importance. A train station was opened in Tschelkar, where steam locomotives and wagons were repaired and supplied with coal and water. Between 1905 and 1907, a station building, a locomotive depot, a hospital and a two-year school were built.
The place was granted city rights in 1928 and was called Tschelkar (Челкар) during the Soviet Union .

Schalqar train station is on the Trans-Aral Railway . On August 22, 2014 Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev opened the 496 km long section from Schalqar - beinu (496 km), which represents a shortening of the transport of goods from the People's Republic of China to the ports on the Caspian Sea ( Aktau ) or via Russia to Europe .
