history

Construction and commissioning

The Seabourn Quest was laid down on June 30, 2008 with hull number 64 at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa together with her sister ship, the Seabourn Sojourn . After completion, the ship was handed over to the Seabourn Cruise Line on May 31, 2011 and entered in the Norwegian shipping register. She has been flying the flag of the Bahamas since 2011. On June 20, 2011, the Seabourn Quest ran after the christening by actress Blythe Danner in Barcelona on its official maiden voyage to Piraeus and has been used worldwide since then.

From May 13, 2013 to June 2, 2013 the ship was overhauled at the T.Mariotti shipyard. During the work, for example, landing areas were created for four Zodiacs, which are needed for the Antarctic cruises.

Machine system and drive

The Seabourn Quest is equipped with diesel-electric machinery. Four diesel engines drive the generators that supply the ship with electrical energy. The diesel engines are 12-cylinder V-engines from the 32 series from the Finnish manufacturer Wärtsilä . The generators come from VEM Sachsenwerk .

Trivia
