history

Former watermill on the Lutter in Marwede, in the brook the stone sculpture “Die Heide aus Lüneburg” by Petra Förster

In 1435 and still in the 19th century, Scharnhorst consisted of a saddle-free farm, six full farms, two half farms, three kötner and one small kötner. The saddle-free farm was sold by the Rehren family in 1810; until the landlord's burdens were replaced in 1839, it was used as a saddle yard.

On October 7th, 1820, the "already poor village" of Scharnhorst had the misfortune that a conflagration that spread "with the greatest speed" completely cremated nine main and 22 auxiliary buildings in less than an hour, so that it was inevitable that the unfortunate burned-down people did not lose all of their available shredded fruit, all fodder, including some cattle and almost all of their furniture.

The linking card from 1848/49 shows for Scharnhorst: five Vollhöfner, four Halbhöfner, three Kötner , one Brinksitzer and two growers , as well as the school and the shepherd's house. In 1854 two full courtyards and one half courtyard merged into Gut Scharnhorst.

In the district of Marwede there is a former water mill on the Lutter , which was first mentioned in a treasure register from 1438 at this location. Today it is a listed building .
