Rails is a formerly independent municipality and today's district of the municipality of Öhningen in the district of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg in Germany on the border with Switzerland .

history

According to a manuscript from the 9th century, at the instigation of Count Scrot of Florence from the Reichenau monastery, parts of the remains of Saints Genesius and Eugenius were brought to the Michael's chapel on the Schiener Berg around the year 800 . In 801 King Pippin of Italy and Bishop Radolt of Verona came to rails to check this translation . From the spiritual community at the Michaelskapelle, the monastery was developed in the 9th century . In 909 the monastery came to Reichenau monastery in rails and was later mentioned as a provost's office . The early Romanesque basilica was built in rails in the 11th century . Together with the destruction of the Schrotzburg by the Swabian Association of Towns , the town ofbahnen was burned down in 1441. With the Reichenau Monastery, the village ofbahnen was transferred to the Bishop of Constance in 1540 . After the Reformation and the Thirty Years' War , pilgrimages to rails began. 1803 rails fell by Reichsdeputationshauptschluss as part of the Bishopric of Konstanz in Baden and counted to 1810 to the Official Bohlingen, then to the district office Radolfzell and from 1872 to the Bezirksamt Konstanz , from 1939, the district was Constance. On 1 January 1975. rails was in the community Öhningen incorporated . Rail is now the location of a church kindergarten . The primary school has not been in operation since 2015.
