Rail transport in the Seychelles

There was and is no rail transport in the Seychelles . The construction of a monorail has been planned since 2012.

Monorail

In 2012, the construction of a monorail for passenger traffic on Mahé was presented. The first two phases, from Anse Etoile to Victoria and from Victoria to the airport, should be completed by 2015, the third phase by the end of 2017 [obsolete] . The costs for the first two phases were given as up to 45 million US dollars , for phase 3 with US $ 18 million. The company Anse Royale Express , which had only been founded a year earlier, had already been awarded the contract to build and operate the facility .

The construction should be carried out with the help of Indian help. The construction was not completed until the end of 2016.
