The upper and open all-day school , named after Friedrich Schiller , forms the school center of the city of Sarstedt with the Sarstedt grammar school and the Alber-Schweitzer primary school . Around half of the graduates achieve the extended secondary school certificate .

Emergence

The educational institution , which was founded in 1906 as the "upper class" of the Lutheran City School, was recognized in 1928 as a full middle school . In 1936 a new building is built. In 1955, on the 150th anniversary of Friedrich Schiller's death, the school was renamed the “Schiller Middle School”. A year later, a school building was built on Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße. In 1965 it was renamed "Schiller Realschule". 1975 saw the move, which was reversed in 2004 with the dissolution of the orientation level, through the introduction of the orientation level , which is now held by the Realschule building, to the Sarstedt high school building. In 1976, the Hildesheim district took over the school . An energetic refurbishment took place in 2009–2010 . In March 2010, a multi-purpose hall (also cafeteria or city hall) was built for the Sarstedt school center. Nevertheless, the lunch supply, which is indispensable for an all-day school, was temporarily not guaranteed. The security of supply is ensured mainly through the financial subsidies of the joint project of the Sarstedt high school. As a result of the school reform in Lower Saxony (structured school system ) that came into force on August 1, 2011 , the secondary and secondary schools were merged to form the Schiller Oberschule Sarstedt after approval by the district council .

Branch office

The school administration is based in the Giebelstieg district near the Vossstraße industrial park in Sarstedt.

Demographic change and the associated decrease in the number of students

With 51 new registrations (2012/2013), the Schiller Oberschule, like many other schools, is faced with the problem of demographic change and the decline in the number of pupils. The Hildesheim district administration expects a decline of more than 33% in the Hildesheim district. A deficit of 24% is expected for 2018/2019. In concrete terms, this means that in the medium term, from the perspective of the school administration, a part of the building would no longer be needed.

profile

In years six to ten there are four lessons in the form of single (45 min) or double lessons (90 min) per week elective courses . The particularity of the elective courses depends on the type of school; This option exists as a high school. Textile design, art and sport as well as languages (French and English; second foreign language) are offered.

jumbo

The "Jumbo Project" exists for career orientation. It offers young people from grade eight the opportunity to gain an insight into five different activities in the fields of craft and service in two weeks.

Career information centers

Support association

The Friends' Association of the Schiller Oberschule (“Schiller Oberschule Sarstedt eV”), which was founded on June 22nd, 2000, finances parts of school life under the motto: We initiate, organize, cooperate, finance . A total of over € 10,000 has been invested since it was founded. Among other things, the project “green classroom” was funded. A workshop on the piano as a musical instrument was held for year nine in music lessons in cooperation with PPC . The Schiller-Oberschule takes part in the project of the Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung , HAZ macht Schule , and the Sparkasse Hildesheim. Part of the project is a visit to the production building of the Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung in Hanover and the editorial office, which provides an insight into journalistic practice and strengthens media knowledge in the methodical, practical examination of the social environment. The student articles written in the course of the project are then published in the newspaper, which each participating student receives free of charge, and on the Internet.
