The Schivestolen ( Norwegian ) is a 2195 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In Heimefrontfjella, it rises as the highest peak of the Kottas Mountains in the south-western part of Helsetskarvet .
Scientists at the Norwegian Polar Institute named it in 1969 after the Norwegian officer Jacob Schive (1897–1969), a leader of the military resistance against the German occupation of Norway in World War II .
Geologically, the summit area of the Schivestolen consists of almost flat-lying sandstones from the Lower Permian , into which a basaltic storage corridor penetrated during the Jura .
