Butcher! is a play by Tom Lanoye and Luk Perceval based on the Wars of the Roses by William Shakespeare . It combines the eight royal dramas of Shakespeare into one extensive work with the parts Richard Deuxième , Heinrich 4 , Der Fifth Heinrich , Margaretha di Napoli , Eddy the King and Dirty Rich Modderfocker the Third . The Flemish original version Ten Oorlog (To the War) premiered in Ghent in 1997 , the German-language version as a twelve-hour theater marathon in 1999.

German-language first production

The 1999 Salzburg Festival and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg performed the work, which was translated into German by Rainer Kersten and Klaus Reichert, in a co-production. The premieres were on July 25, 1999 in Salzburg and on October 2, 1999 in Hamburg. The performance lasted twelve hours, including nine hours of pure playtime. Directed by Luk Perceval. The performance was voted production of the year by the critics of Theater heute . Thomas Thieme as Dirty Rich Modderfocker was named actor of the year 2000.

In 2005 Thomas Thieme staged at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar under the title Margaretha. Eddy. Dirty Rich three parts of battles! . Among others, Hans-Peter Minetti played , and amateur actors like Jimmy Hartwig joined the theater company . In 2011 Micha Pöllmann staged battles under the title Dirty Rich at DSCHUNGEL WIEN. In 2016, Christoph Frick (director) staged all six plays from Schlachten! at the Freiburg Theater .
