The Diemitz lock , also called Diemitzer lock , is a boat lock on the Müritz-Havel waterway . It is located in the residential area of the same name near Diemitz , a district of Mirow in the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District .
description
The Diemitz lock was built in the 1880s according to the Finow measure and replaced by a new building in 1977–1978. It balances the water level between the Labussee and the Großer Peetschsee and has an average drop of 1.29 meters. The lock chamber can be used over a length of 42.1 m and a width of 5.34 m and is closed with mortise gates .
Since the boom in water tourism on the Mecklenburg Lake District , the Diemitz lock has been the most frequented in the region. The responsible waterways and shipping authority in Eberswalde ensures smooth operation through repairs and the expansion of the sports boat waiting areas.
The Diemitz lock is operated on site, and passenger and sport shipping can use it at certain times from mid-March to the end of November. With almost 40,000 pleasure boats, the Diemitz lock had the most passages nationwide in 2015.
