Diemitz was founded in the 13th century by a knight below his castle and first mentioned in 1237. Because of the inhumane behavior of the knight, the castle was destroyed by rebellious farmers. The rights to the village came to the Dobbertin monastery through the knight of Malchow . Like Schwarz and Lärz , the village remained in the possession of the Dobbertin monastery until 1918. Until 1934 Diemitz belonged to the Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin .
In 2004 the previously independent community of Diemitz was incorporated into Mirow.
