Babke is a district of the town of Mirow in the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
Geography and transport links
Babke is northeast of the core town of Mirow . The Havel flows to the east . The Zotzensee stretches to the north and the Jäthensee to the south .
history
The street village of Babke was first mentioned in 1257 in a document from Prince Nikolaus von Werle . The place name is derived from the Slavic baba or babak , which means something like old .
A glassworks was built in 1786 and a lime kiln in 1839 . There was also a mill and a school until the 1960s.

- Wooden archway (Babke 3), so-called Sonnentor, was located in Hohenzieritz until 1905 and was part of a gatehouse from 1712
