geography

The Fleether Mühle residential area is approx. 2 km from the Fleeth district and approx. 12 km from the main town of Mirow an der Oberbek (Driculne) .

The K 5 runs through the village and connects it with Diemitz , Fleeth, Peetsch and Mirow.

Mill

The mill was built in the 13th century by the Eldena monastery on the Driculne stream and was first mentioned in a document in 1270. From 1692 to 1799 it was owned by the Monike family. The 4-storey mill building in the classicism style was built in 1803 according to plans by the master builder Friedrich Wilhelm Dunkeldorf . The three-sided farm also included a stable , a barn and a bakery , which later served as a forge . A sawmill was built on the other side of the Oberbek . The mill wheel that still exists today has a diameter of four meters.

During the GDR era , the mill grounds were used by the LPG for breeding geese and broilers . Five rearing halls, a 6-unit block and an apprentice and training home were built. Until the 1950s, the mill was still able to grind grain , but due to the change in technology it was put out of operation. So the Fleether Mühle became a compound feed mill.

The sawmill was destroyed by arson in August 2001 and the mill was also badly damaged. The remains were removed in 2015 so that a new weir could be built. The buildings that still exist are under monument protection .
