Fleeth is a district of the town of Mirow in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
Geography and transport links
Fleeth is located at the mouth of the Oberbek on the banks of the northern Vilzsee , about 7 km south of the core town of Mirow. The Fleether Mühle residential area is in the Fleeth district .
Fleeth is far away from the national transport connections. Fleeth is connected to Kreisstraße 5 in Fleether Mühle via a side road , via which Diemitz , Schwarz , Peetsch and Mirow can be reached.
The next train station is in Mirow ( railway line Mirow-Neustrelitz ).
The next motorway connection is in Wittstock / Dosse in Brandenburg, more than 30 km away, to the A24 and A19 federal motorways .
history
The area around Fleeth was already settled in the Bronze Age .
The village was founded by the Eldena monastery, to whom Prince Nicolaus von Werle gave 30 Hufen land on the Vilzsee and Rätzsee and the Driculne brook to build a water mill . In 1270 Fleeth was sold to the Johanniterkomturei Mirow .
During the GDR era, Fleether Mühle had the largest broiler farm of an LPG in the region.
1957 Fleeth was united with Diemitz. The two districts merged with the town of Mirow in 2004.
In 2012 the belfry was re-installed in the cemetery . The bell inside was cast before the Reformation and bears the inscription: Ave Maria Gratia Plena (German: Greetings Mary, you gracious).

The name Fleeth is derived from the Slavic Vilet, Vilets, Vlet, Vlete , which means something like magic place .
