The Strasen lock is a lock on the Müritz-Havel-Wasserstraße (MHW). It is located in the Wesenberg district of Strasen , in the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District .

General

The lock was built in 1845 according to the Finow measure and was last renovated in 1956. With a mean drop of 1.42 m, it balances the water level between the Großer Pälitzsee and the lower lying Ellbogensee . The lock chamber has a usable length of 42.40 m, a usable width of 5.13 m and is closed with mortise gates .

The Strasen lock is operated by the Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office and can be used by excursion and pleasure boats from mid-March to the end of November at certain times.
