from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cumbach Castle with stud and Orangerie was once in Cumbach , a modern district of Rudolstadt in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia . The orangery with the gate system, natural stone wall and the former tea house has been preserved and is a listed building.

history

In 1615 there was an estate in the possession of the sovereigns in the area of the village of Cumbach. Since little space was available around the Heidecksburg , the sovereign built a stud on the areas of his estate in the Saale floodplain near Cumbach in the 17th and 18th centuries . He dissolved this again in 1805.

Orangery and enclosure

At the same time, a small palace complex with a park was built on behalf of the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt . In 1735 a kitchen garden was laid out there and an orangery was built, which was expanded in 1745. Another extension followed in 1763, the work of which was completed in 1766. The whole garden was enclosed by a wall. In order to establish the connection to the residence in Ludwigsburg Palace , a straight avenue was laid out from the city to the palace complex in 1771 .

The site became the property of the city in 1919. There she ran a pension house as well as an old people's and children's home. After 1990, a modern old people's and nursing home was built on this site, which includes the preserved parts of the orangery.
