The Langnau Castle is a tower castle on the old village route 15 in the town of Langnau am Albis in Switzerland.

history

The origins of the facility go back to the beginning of the 13th century. The Eschenbachers are believed to be the builders, who resided on the nearby Schnabelburg until 1309 . The tower castle as a fortified place of residence for knightly servants was the first way to secure the path. The building has served as a rural dwelling since the 16th century. In 1994 the local community acquired the castle. Today it is a residential building and not open to the public.

The tower has a square floor plan with an edge length of 6.7 meters and is between 10 and 12 meters high. In 1548 it was heavily rebuilt and received its current window layout. The walls were built from boulders .
