Yaqoub Mohamed al-Youha (born January 31, 1993 ) is a Kuwaiti hurdler who specializes in the 110-meter distance .

Athletic career

Yaqoub Mohamed al-Youha gained his first international experience at the Asian Championships 2011 in Kobe , where he could not finish his preliminary run. The following year he finished seventh at the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo in 14.05 s and was eliminated from the semi-finals at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with 13.91 s. In 2013 he finished fourth in the Arab Championships in Doha in 14.07 s, as well as fourth in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang in 14.00 s. In 2014 he won the silver medal behind his compatriot Abdulaziz al-Mandeel at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou over 60 m hurdles in 7.90 seconds . In September he first took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , where he came in seventh place in 13.83 s.

In 2015 he won the silver medal at the Arab Championships in Manama in 13.37 s and won there with the Kuwaiti 4 x 100 meter relay in 39.75 s. He was then disqualified in the final of the Asian Championships in Wuhan . In the following year he again won the silver medal behind al-Mandeel at the Indoor Asian Championships in Doha in 7.65 s, as well as at the Asian Championships in 2017 in Bhubaneswar in 13.59 s. He then won the Arab Championships in Radès in 13.48 s and won the bronze medal with the relay there in 40.83 s. He qualified for the first time for the World Championships in London , where he could not finish with his run in the semifinals . In 2019, he won the silver medal behind Chinese Xie Wenjun at the Asian Championships in Doha with a new national record of 13.35 seconds . He qualified for the World Championships , which were also held in Doha, where he reached the semifinals , in which he was eliminated with 13.57 s. Then he won the bronze medal behind the Russian Sergei Schubenkow and Zeng Jianhang from China at the Military World Games in Wuhan in 13.60 seconds .

In 2019 al-Youha became Kuwaiti champion in the 100-meter run and in the hurdles sprint.
