history

The baroque building was built on the site of an original medieval fortress, which was mentioned as early as the 14th century. The castle was built in the 2nd half of the 17th century, the final shape comes from the 1st half of the 18th century. The construction work was directed by the owner of the castle, Count Karl Anton Serényi von Kis-Serény . At the entrance to the castle there is a triumphal gate, which is accessible via a stone bridge. There are sculptures by Jakob K. Schletter on it. The stucco work in the palace halls was carried out by Giovanni M. Fontana at the beginning of the 17th century. The chapel from the mid-18th century is one of the representative rooms. Its vaults are covered by frescoes by Josef Ignaz Mildorfer . Today visitors can visit the stylish rooms of the castle with furnishings from the 17th to 19th centuries and the exhibition of Baroque sculpture in Moravia in the orangery. The palace area is complemented by the French park and an extensive pheasantry.
