The ruins of Boskovice Castle (German Boskowitz Castle ) are located in Boskovice in Okres Blansko in the Czech Republic .
Boskovice Castle was built by the Lords of Boskovice in the first half of the 13th century . They held the castle and the associated lands until the 14th century, when they handed the castle over to the lords of Kunstadt . These expanded the fortress.
From the middle of the 15th century, the castle was again owned by the Boskowitzers . This was followed by twenty years of rule by the von Eder family, followed by the Zástřizl knights from the middle of the 16th century . In the 16th century the castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style, but then fell into disrepair in the 18th century during the rule of the Dietrichsteiners . The outer ring of the castle wall was recently renewed and the masonry secured against collapse.
After 1819 the Boskovice Castle was built nearby. The castle ruins and the chateau have belonged to the Mensdorff-Pouilly family since 1856 .
