The shed 10.11 (also harbor shed 10.11 ) are two under monument protection standing former port shed in the port and Hanseatic City of Lübeck (Schleswig-Holstein).

The connected buildings served as administration and storage buildings until the 2000s . From 2010 to 2012 the complex was converted for office use.

location

The sheds are located on Hafenstrasse north of Lübeck's old town at the transition between Hansahafen and Burgtorhafen on the eastern bank of the Trave opposite the northern Wall peninsula. Immediately to the south is the lift bridge that spans the entrance to the Elbe-Lübeck Canal . The track of the port railway located between the shed and Hafenstrasse has since been shut down here.

history

At the location of sheds 10 and 11 were sheds 18, 19 and 20, built in 1874. They were completely destroyed by fire in 1889. The city of Lübeck decided to replace the three structures with a coherent building complex. The buildings were erected in 1889, partly in solid brick and partly in wood. The two two-story brick buildings were provided with barrel roofs ; the single-storey warehouse buildings with pitched roofs .

From 1895 a customs clearance office was located here . The southernmost part of the shed was removed in 1896 when the Elbe-Lübeck Canal was being built. From 1907, the Halland line had its headquarters in Shed 11. It operated passenger ships to Copenhagen , Malmö and Gothenburg and used the shed as a reception and handling building.

The complex was rebuilt twice in the first half of the 20th century, the last time in 1936. In the same year, the sheds were given their current numbering. The complex was also used from 1936 by the labor distribution office (from 1950 onwards , the port was operated as a whole ), which organized the distribution of the showers to the Lübeck ports. Later on, the Lübeck Port Operations Association was located in Shed 10, while Shed 11 to the north was used by a company. The complex belongs to the Lübeck Port Authority (LPA), the municipal port administration established in 2008.

In 1988 the sheds 10/11 with a length of 150 meters and a width of 15 meters were placed under monument protection. Shed 10 is the meeting point for one of the Lübeck parades for the DGB rally on the Lübeck market on May 1st .

modification

By the end of 2012, the sheds were converted into a location for offices by KWL GmbH , the Lübeck Business Coordination Office, as part of the three million euro project “Total Port” and from January 2013 they moved into new premises. KWL is a subsidiary of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. During the renovations, the facades were given thermal insulation and additional internal stairs and windows were installed. The extension on the south side was torn down and replaced by a new building made of glass and steel, which is suitable for gastronomic use. A total usable area of 2600  square meters was created .
