The Schwaigwaldmoos nature reserve is located in the Weilheim-Schongau district in Upper Bavaria in the area of ​​the municipality of Wessobrunn .

The 50.25 hectare area with the number NSG-00068.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1953 , extends northwest of the core town of Wessobrunn. The St 2057 runs east of the area, the Rottbach flows to the south-west, the 6.5-hectare Engelsried Lake extends to the north and the 63.73-hectare Rohrmoos nature reserve extends to the south-east .

The moor is only drained at the edge, so that there is an almost central raised moor on 30 percent of the area, which is partially without trees. Around the open raised bog there is a ring of bog mountain pines . The outer edge of the Schwaigwald is a 150-year-old bog edge forest made of spruce with individual black alder .
