The Gerstenfilz nature reserve is located in the area of the Wildsteig municipality in the Weilheim-Schongau district in Upper Bavaria .
The 10.9 ha area with the number NSG-00061.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1952 , extends south of the core town of Wildsteig between the 375.4 ha nature reserve Moore around the Wies in the north-west and the 49.3 ha large Wildseefilz nature reserve in the northeast. The felt is drained by a stream leading to the Illach .
