The nature reserve Vogelfreistätte Ammersee-Südufer lies in the area of ​​the market in Dießen am Ammersee and the municipality of Pähl in the districts of Landsberg am Lech and Weilheim-Schongau in Upper Bavaria . It is FFH area "Ammersee-Südufer and Raistinger Wiesen" (8032-371), part of the landscape protection areas "Protection of landscape parts on the Ammersee-Südufer, Pähl" (LSG-00225.01) and "Ammersee-West" (LSG-00509.01) and Part of the EU bird sanctuary "Ammerseegebiet" (7932-471).

The 603.65 hectare area with the number NSG-00120.01, which was placed under nature protection in 1979 , extends on the south bank of the Ammersee, southeast of the core town of Dießen am Ammersee and northwest of Fischen am Ammersee . The St 2056 runs through the area and the Rott and Ammer flow .
