The Schwarzbach , also known as Unterbach (in the vernacular Selbach ), is a four-kilometer long creek in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

course

The source of the Schwarzbach is located north of Siershahn in the forest on Leuteroder district. From there it flows in a south-west direction. Before Siershahn it changes its direction to the south-east, is submerged by Siershahn and Wirges and finally flows between Wirges and Staudt from the left into the Krümmelbach , at the same point as the Krambach and in the limb between the other two brooks.

The 3.8 kilometer long course of the Schwarzbach ends about 37 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of about 9.7 ‰.

nature

The Schwarzbach is only slightly polluted compared to the Au or Ahrbach , because like these, it does not run directly through or along clay pits, which are numerous here. Brown trout can often be seen in the Schwarzbach.
