Scott Cawthon
Scott Cawthon (born July 26, 1971 ) is an American game developer and novelist and screenwriter . He was best known for the Five Nights at Freddy’s game series.
Life
About Cawthons private and family life is only known that he in Salado in the US state of Texas is living, married with two sons, Ian and Braden did that for him his games test . Otherwise he completely withholds information about his life.
He is a graduate of the Houston- Texas Art Academy . Cawthon is a very religious Christian and a member of Hope Animation , an official film and game project that claims to be trying to spread the message of Jesus Christ through modern media.
Career
Scott Cawthon had already produced several strongly Christian-oriented animated films such as Noah's Ark, The Pilgrim's Progress, A Christmas Journey and Jesus Kids Club . In addition, he developed numerous games of various genres, including: Legacy of Flan 1 - 4, There is no Pause Button !, Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. and Rage Quit! .
The stumbling block for the game series "Five Nights at Freddy's" was the game Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. , in which anthropomorphic beavers go about their daily work (namely chopping and processing wood). Game fans complained vehemently that the characters in the game looked "like animatronic dolls " and that their stares and convulsive smiles were "lifeless and terrifying". Other games from his hand have also been criticized. At first, Scott was disappointed and depressed as a result. But then he got the idea to use the reviews of animatronic game characters in Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. as a stimulus for a horror game. The inspiration for the individual animatronics provided him with famous, real existing animatronics from various amusement parks and franchise pizzerias (e.g. Chuck E. Cheese’s ), as well as characters from the Muppet show .
According to current statistical lists of portals selling games such as Steam and Twitch , Five Nights at Freddy's was downloaded up to 4,694 times a day via iPhone and PC up to June 2015, which results in an approximate daily income of $ 12,880.00 (corresponds to around € 11,560.00). Scott Cawthon has now donated $ 256,500.00 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (a well-known children 's hospital in Memphis , Tennessee that specifically treats children with cancer and leukemia ). If Five Nights at Freddy's had n't been such a surprise hit, he would have had to give up his professional career as a game designer.
Scott Cawthon is now also a successful novelist. His first work, entitled Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes , was published in December 2015. His second work, Five Nights at Freddy's: Durchgeknallt , was published on June 27, 2017. The third of his books is titled The Fourth Closet and was published on July 26, 2018. He is also involved in the script for the film Five Nights at Freddy's .
Interaction with fans
Cawthon very rarely gives interviews and usually lets discussions about his games go on without any recognizable intervention. Sometimes, however, he expresses himself on discussion forums about the series of questions from fans, usually without revealing anything specific about the series, especially when it comes to the plot.
The development of the games, about which the fans have only been kept up to date with cryptic teasers and trailers , has been designed very openly at Ultimate Custom Night . Cawthon kept fans informed of new game content as soon as it was added.
Cawthon is also known for deliberately misleading its fans, which is why he is often referred to as a troll . For example, he released " demo versions " of several Five Nights at Freddy's parts , which when played turned out to be completely different games to which only a few graphics from the Five Nights at Freddy's series were added, or he gave his Birthday as February 31st.
