Scott Ferguson (born January 6, 1973 in Camrose , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active during his career for the Edmonton Oilers , the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the Minnesota Wild from the NHL . In 2008 he ended his ice hockey career at ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Ferguson began his career in 1990 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers . The left shooter was able to improve continuously over the next few years and won the Ed Chynoweth Cup , the championship of the WHL, for the first time with the team in 1992 . He was able to repeat this success two years later. During this time he was one of the top performers in the team and scored 70 scorer points in 97 games in his last season with the Blazers. This made him one of the defenders with the highest points within the team.

The left shooter was never drafted , but in 1994 he moved to the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers, who mainly used him in their farm team at the time , the Cape Breton Oilers . Ferguson didn't get the chance to prove himself in the NHL until four years later. In the end, however, it was only used once. In the summer of 1998 he signed a contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as a free agent . As before with the Oilers, this time he played almost exclusively in the American Hockey League . At the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks he was part of the regular squad and regularly showed attractive performances.

In 2000 he moved back to the Edmonton Oilers, where he made his breakthrough in the following years. During the NHL lockout in the 2004/05 season Ferguson played in the second highest Swedish division, the Allsvenskan . There he played eight games for Skövde IK and scored three points scorer.

Then he returned to the NHL and ran from then on for the Minnesota Wild. After he could not assert himself there and was a regular member of the farm team, the Houston Eros , he moved to the German Ice Hockey League at ERC Ingolstadt after another engagement with the Worcester Sharks . With the Panthers he was eliminated in the play-off qualification after a disappointing season. Ferguson scored 16 points scorer in 59 games. At the end of the 2007/08 season he ended his active ice hockey career.

Since the 2008/09 season Ferguson has been working as an assistant coach for the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL.
