Scott Patterson (born January 28, 1992 ) is an American cross-country skier .

Career

Patterson started in Anchorage for the first time in January 2009 in the US Super Tour and came 62nd in the sprint and 60th in the 10 km freestyle. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2010 in Hinterzarten , he took 19th place in the skiathlon , 17th place over 10 km classic and 12th place with the relay. In the following year he won 35th place in the skiathlon at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2011 in Otepää , 28th place over 10 km freestyle and tenth place with the relay and achieved his first classically in Craftsbury with third place over 10 km Podium on the US Super Tour. In the 2013/14 season he won the 10 km freestyle and 20 km classic in Craftsbury in the US Super Tour. In addition, he finished second in the 15 km freestyle in Kincaid Park and reached sixth place in the overall ranking of the US Super Tour at the end of the season. At the U23 World Championships in 2014 in Fiemme Valley , he took 18th place over 15 km in classic and in skiathlon. The following year, at the U23 World Championships in 2015 in Almaty, he came 39th in sprint, 15th in skiathlon and 13th over 15 km freestyle. After finishing third over 15 km freestyle at the US Super Tour in West Yellowstone at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he won the 15 km mass start race in Sun Valley . In January 2016, he was first over 15 km classic at the US Super Tour and at the same time US championships in Houghton . In the same month he made his debut in Nové Město in the cross-country skiing world cup and finished 42nd place over 15 km freestyle and eighth place with the relay. At the Ski Tour Canada 2016 he achieved 46th place. At the end of the season he came in second place over 15 km freestyle in Craftsbury and reached fourth place in the overall ranking of the US Super Tour. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he took third place over 15 km freestyle at the US Super Tour in West Yellowstone and first place at the Nor-Am Cup and at the same time US Super Tour in Vernon over 15 km freestyle. In February 2017 he got his first World Cup points in Pyeongchang with ninth place in the skiathlon. In March 2017, he finished 41st in the World Cup finals in Québec and reached 95th place in the overall World Cup. At the end of the season he won the US Super Tour in Fairbanks in the skiathlon and the 50 km mass start race and thus won the overall standings. After finishing 55th in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he became the US-American champion over 15 km freestyle in Anchorage in January 2018 and finished 58th in the World Cup final in Falun . His best placings at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 14th place with the relay and 11th place in the 50 km mass start race.

In the 2018/19 season, Patterson finished 63rd in the Lillehammer Triple and 45th in the World Cup finals in Québec. His best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were 23rd place in the 50 km mass start race and ninth place with the relay.
