Scott R. Looney

Scott R. Looney is an American improvisation musician ( piano , prepared piano , keyboard , electronics).

Live and act

Looney studied composition and improvisation with Roscoe Mitchell , Wadada Leo Smith , Morton Subotnick , David Rosenboom and Frederic Rzewski ; he received his Masters in Composition from the California Institute of the Arts . After moving to New York and finally to the San Francisco Bay Area , he worked - influenced by Denman Maroney - with the sound possibilities of the prepared piano and live electronics. He performed at international festivals, including a. at the Ulrichsberger Kaleidophon and the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival . He has also collaborated on various projects with Tony Bevan , Gianni Gebbia , Frank Gratkowski , Henry Kaiser , Oliver Lake , Joëlle Léandre , Joe Morris , Kjell Nordeson , Jon Raskin , Gino Robair , Jim Ryan , Damon Smith , Paul Smoker , Nate Wooley and Weasel Walter . According to Tom Lord , he was involved in 17 recording sessions between 1995 and 2011. In Central Europe Looney performed with Klaus Janek , Wilbert de Joode , Christoph Irmer , Sue Schlotte and Martin Blume .
