Sebastian Stahl (born September 20, 1978 in Bonn ) is a former German racing driver .

Career

Stahl began his motorsport career in karting in 1988 , where he was active until 1995. In 1996 he made his debut in formula racing in the German Formula König , in which he immediately took fourth place. After taking part in some races of the German Formula König in 1997, he entered the German Endurance Cup in 1998. After a one-year break, he drove in the German VW New Beetle Cup in 2000 and 2001. He also started in 2001 in German Formula Renault races .

In 2002 he took part in the German Alfa 147 Cup , the first German racing series with diesel engines, and won the runner-up title behind Markus Lungstrass. In 2003 Stahl stayed in the German Alfa 147 Cup for a few races and finished 14th overall at the end of the season. He also took part in a race in the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) for Autodelta .

In 2004, Stahl switched to the German Seat Leon Supercopa and secured the championship title with four wins. In 2005 he stayed in this championship, but was unable to match the results from the previous year. He remained without a win and finished 13th in the overall ranking. He also completed a race in the Porsche Supercup and in the GT1 class of the FIA GT Championship .

In winter 2005/2006 , Stahl competed in the A1 Grand Prix on the racing weekend in Shanghai for the German team supervised by Willi Weber . He did not come close to the placements of Timo Scheider and Adrian Sutil , who contested the rest of the season. In 2007 and 2008 he competed in individual races in the German Mini Challenge and in 2007 also took part in the ADAC Procar series . In 2008 he was 16th overall and third in the SP3T class at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring .

In 2009 and 2010 Stahl did not take part in any racing series and acted as test driver and instructor. In 2011 he drove a race for the Brixia Horse Power Team in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy and finished the first race on the Nürburgring in 15th place. In 2012 he competed in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring .

In 2014 Stahl started as a guest starter at an event of the Seat Leon Eurocup.

Personal

Stahl's mother Barbara is in a relationship with Rolf Schumacher, the father of Michael and Ralf Schumacher . Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Stahl already know each other from shared karting times on the kart track in Kerpen-Manheim. Because of his relationship with the two Schumacher brothers, he is referred to by some media representatives as "Schumi 3" .

Stahl completed an apprenticeship as an office clerk.
