Seff Weidl (born June 25, 1915 in Eger , † December 17, 1972 in Inning a.Ammersee ; actually Josef Weidl ) was a Sudeten German sculptor , draftsman and graphic artist.

Life

Weidl studied from 1936 to 1938 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He then went to France and Italy. During the Second World War he was called up for military service and was taken prisoner. After returning home and being expelled from the Sudetenland, he found a new home in the Upper Bavarian spa town of Kreuth , where he began to work as a freelance artist.

In 1968 Weidl moved with his studio to Unterhaching and finally in 1971 to Inning am Ammersee.

Exhibitions

Seff Weidl exhibited his works for the first time in 1948 at the Kunstverein Stuttgart . There followed special exhibitions in 1950, 1952 and 1955 in the Kleemann Gallery in New York , in 1951 in the Neue Galerie Linz , in 1952 in the Düsseldorf gallery Vömel Düsseldorf and in 1953 in the Städtische Galerie Munich. On the occasion of the artist's 100th birthday, there will be a special exhibition on the subject of abstract figuration from January 17 to February 7, 2016 in the Städtische Galerie im Leeren Beutel in Regensburg .
