The documentary deals with Berlin artists who have remained true to their place of residence, as well as with artists who have chosen the city as the center of their lives for a while. The viewer gets an insight into their way of life and their artistic work, and personal experiences are not excluded. Together with scholarship holders of the Berlin artist program of the DAAD , you go to places that have particularly influenced the creative abilities of the individual artists with regard to their work. Both the view of the people out of the city and the view that is directed from the outside towards Berlin and its artists are sketched.

It is a Jana Cisar film production that was supported with funds from the Federal Foreign Office and funded by the Federal Cultural Foundation .

“To judge documentaries technically, or to compare them with feature films, is usually an unjust thing. In the case of 'Sehnsucht Berlin' it is no different. The material is strongly dependent on light and interspersed with sober rather than radiant colors. Artifacts are inevitable, while noise hardly disturbs the view. Overall, the material for a documentary film that does not rely on high gloss is characterized by a high resolution. The center is mainly acoustically active. no wonder, as it is mostly about comments that are in the center. [...] "
