history
Seibis was first mentioned in a document in 1392. In 1392 Arnold von Blankenberg was appointed lord of the estates in Kießling, Blankenstein, Schlegel, Seibis and Harra.
Seibis is described in the 16th century as a small border village that consists of a row of houses stretching from east to west along a winding village lane, rising 35 feet, on Marienhügel and, in addition to a school, a community hall and 33 private houses with 18 courtyards. 189 inhabitants lived in 41 families. At the Moschwitz there were several mills, the butter mill, the cod mill and a glass button hut.
Seibis lost its independence in 1952 due to a regulation and became part of Schlegel. (Website administrative association Saale-Rennsteig)
The mountain village was first mentioned in a document in 1500. On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Seibis became a district of Schlegel. Schlegel became part of the Rosenthal am Rennsteig community in 2019.
