Mountain station

The Jenesien cable car ( Italian: Funivia di San Genesio ) connects the South Tyrolean capital Bozen with Jenesien , located on the Tschögglberg . The cable car is part of the Südtirol transport association and is operated by SAD Nahverkehr AG .

Technical

Cable car supports and cabin

The route leads from the 306  m slm lying valley station at the Sarntalstraße on the outskirts of Bolzano seven cable car supports of reinforced concrete to the top station at 1,047  m altitude Genesio. The mountain station, near the swimming pool and the tennis club of Jenesien, is about 50 meters in altitude and about half a kilometer from the village center. The ride, which overcomes an altitude difference of 741 m, offers wide views of the Bolzano valley basin, the Ritten opposite and the western Dolomites .

The cable car has an inclined length of 2488 m with a horizontal length of 2355 m. The two suspension ropes are anchored in the mountain station and are tensioned in the valley station by weights of 30 t. The drive is located in the mountain station. The two cabins, each for 21 people, travel at a maximum speed of 5.5 m / s (20 km / h).

history

The aerial tramway was built by Luis Zuegg according to the Bleichert / Zuegg system and opened on May 4, 1937. In 1966 it was modernized according to plans by Ing.Hubert Zuegg. In 1982 as well as in July 2000 the company Hölzl Seilbahnbau carried out major maintenance work.

A completely new construction of the cable car is planned on the existing route by 2020, which will have larger cabins, a higher frequency and a higher travel speed.

At the valley station there is a connection to bus line 12 of the local bus company SASA as well as to the sightseeing bus line BoBus .
