The transmitter Garding (alternatively: transmitter Eiderstedt ) is a filling transmitter for VHF radio and television of the German radio tower . A 114-meter-high guyed steel truss mast is used as the antenna carrier.
history
The Garding transmitter was first erected on November 17, 1959 as a 92 meter high directional radio mast on the premises of the Bundespost in Garding . In the course of the expansion of the transmitter network for the second television program, the transmitter was converted in 1962, whereby a new antenna had to be installed, which increased the height of the structure to 105 meters. On September 17, 1962, the transmitter started operations on channel 31 with an ERP of 500 kW, its range extended along the west coast from Niebüll to the Kiel Canal . In October 1968, as the last Schleswig-Holstein broadcaster, the third television program was also put into operation by Garding. In 1989, as part of the introduction of private broadcasting, the stations RTLplus and Sat.1 were broadcast on channels 25 and 58. Another antenna had to be installed for this, which increased the height of the structure to 114 meters.
First of all, in the course of the introduction of DVB-T, the three public multiplexes were broadcast with an ERP of 1 kW. With the commissioning of DVB-T from the Bredstedt telecommunications tower in 2009, however, the DVB-T frequencies were switched off again.
