The transmitter Geitelde was a transmitter of the North German Broadcasting for FM and MW in Braunschweig - Geitelde .
Via the transmitter
The Geitelde transmitter was built in 1950 and used a 106 m high, self-radiating tubular steel mast as the transmission antenna for medium waves , which was later extended with the VHF transmission antenna on the top.
history
The Geitelde transmitter was officially inaugurated on February 9, 1951 by Adolf Grimme , former director general of the North West German Broadcasting Corporation . In 1969 the medium wave transmitter operated on the frequency 520 kHz with 2 kilowatts of transmission power was switched off and in 1974 the VHF transmitter was relocated to the Torfhaus . The non-functioning transmitter mast was brought down in 1977 by cutting the tether and then dismantled. Only the names of the street and the “Am Sender” building area are still reminiscent of this chapter in regional radio history.
