September (Roman month)
In the Roman calendar , September was initially the seventh month of the year ( year of office ). It later became the ninth month - today our September - in whose name the Latin septem for seven has been retained. In the Roman calendar, September corresponded to the Etruscan month of Celius and was 29 days long.
In 153 BC Chr. Was the beginning of the year in office on January 1 laid, which is why the month of September moved in the Official year to the ninth place. After the calendar reform of Gaius Iulius Caesar , the Julian calendar began in 45 BC. By inserting an additional day an extension to 30 days.
