Sergeant Steel is a hard rock band from Austria , which was founded in 2007 by guitarist Jack Power together with singer Phil Vanderkill and bassist Cozy Coxx.

history

Jack Power, Phil Vander Kill and cozy Coxx founded Sergeant Steel in October 2007. It first was demo songs on the Internet. The trio began by looking for a drummer and a second guitarist. In 2008 Vanderkill and Chuck Boom met by chance at a concert and talked about the old days and joint, past band projects. After many years in jazz and pop, Boom moved in a musically tougher direction again . After meeting Power, there were four of Sergeant Steel. At the same time, Cøxx contacted his cousin Kenny King, who was particularly impressed by the band's Queen influences. Sergeant Steel performed live for the first time in August.

Keyboardist Ben Bateman joined Sergeant Steel in 2009. The debut album Lovers & Maniacs , produced and mixed by Jack Power, was sent to the USA . The mastering was done by the music producer Beau Hill (among others for Alice Cooper , Eric Clapton , Bob Dylan , Ratt , Europe ) in Los Angeles , California . In 2010 Lovers & Maniacs was launched as a self-published publication. The album was acclaimed in the international music press, for example in the German Metal Hammer (demo of the month, issue 10/2010), Rock Hard Germany, Rock It! Germany, Sleaze Roxx USA and many others. In the summer Ronny Roxx replaced Cøsy Cøxx on bass. Cøxx left the band (temporarily) for personal reasons, but remained on friendly terms with the band.

In 2011 Sergeant Steel signed with the music label Refused Records . Lovers & Maniacs was re-released on June 3, 2011, and the band began recording their second album. Sergeant Steel met the producer and mixer Michael Wagener ( Metallica , Ozzy Osbourne , Janet Jackson , Mötley Crüe , Skid Row ) in Nashville , Tennessee . Wagener mixed and mastered their second album within three weeks. The band promoted the America trip with video blogs, studio diaries, a farewell concert and an exclusive music video ( A Song for America: "Heaven Misses An Angel" ). Refused Records was discontinued shortly afterwards and the band was again without a record deal.

In February 2013, Sergeant Steel released a new single called Black Wings Comin . It was the official anthem of the EHC Black Wings Linz (winner of the Austrian ice hockey championships in 2003 and 2012). Mastering was done by Peter Mew ( The Beatles , Pink Floyd , Deep Purple) from Abbey Road Studios , London . The band played before Deep Purple - for which a special CD called Clam Rocks was released - and The Sweet . On September 6th, Sergeant Steel released their second album Men on a Mission and two videos through their own music label Boyz Tyme Records. The single was Cry Out Your Heart, Baby! decoupled, which also received Air Play on Life Radio .

Music genre

Sergeant Steel have dedicated themselves stylistically to traditional hard rock, whose roots go back to the 1970s and 1980s. They are often compared to bands like Queen , Bon Jovi , Aerosmith , Judas Priest , Rainbow , Guns n 'Roses and Deep Purple . You call yourself Austria's “Hard Rock Band Number 1”.
