Sergei Petrovich Schukow ( Russian Сергей Петрович Жуков ; born November 23, 1975 in Novosibirsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who played mainly for Lokomotive Yaroslavl on the position of defender during his career .

Career

Zhukov began playing ice hockey in his native Novosibirsk . There he played until the 1994/95 season with HK Sibir Novosibirsk . During the season he moved to Torpedo Yaroslavl . With Yaroslavl he won the title of Russian master in 1997, 2002 and 2003 . In addition, he was runner-up in 2008 and 2009. In his career, the defender was recognized as the fairest player in the Superliga and Continental Hockey League in 2004 and 2010 . On July 22, 2011, Zhukov declared his playing career over.

International

Zhukov represented his home country for the first time at the 1998 World Cup . Further appearances followed at the World Championships 2001 , 2002 and 2006 World Championships . He won the silver medal with the team in 2002, which also earned him the honor of Honored Master of Sports in Russia in ice hockey .

Furthermore, the defender was in the squad at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . In the same year he won the Euro Hockey Tour with Russia .
