Sergei Wassiljewitsch Tscherwjakow ( Russian Сергей Васильевич Червяков ; born January 12, 1959 in Lyswa , RSFSR ) is a former Soviet Nordic combined .
Career
Together with Sergei Schorikow and Alexander Majorow Tscherwjakow finished fifth in the relay competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1982 in Oslo . On December 29, 1983, he made his debut in the World Cup in Oberwiesenthal . He won his first World Cup points in tenth place. A week later he finished third together with Sergej Bondar and Leonid Glazyrin in the team competition in Nesselwang behind the Finnish and first Soviet relay. In February he took part in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . In the individual competition on the K-90 hill and over fifteen kilometers, he took twelfth place.
At the start of the 1986/87 World Cup season, Tscherwjakow achieved his best individual result with fourth place in Oberwiesenthal. A few weeks later he was part of the Soviet team at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf . While he reached 20th place in the individual, he won the bronze medal in the 3 × 5 km relay together with Andrei Dundukow and Allar Levandi . He finished the season in 20th place in the overall World Cup ranking.
Chervyakov was a member of the Russian squad from 1979 to 1989. At the national level he became Soviet champion several times.
After his active career Chervyakov was active as a coach. In the meantime he is Vice President of the Russian Ski Jumping Association and Nordic Combined as well as director of the "Start" sports school in Perm. In the 2020/21 season he is listed as the coach of the Russian national team in the Nordic combined.
