Sergio D'Offizi

Sergio D'Offizi (born July 1, 1934 in Rome ) is an Italian cameraman .

Live and act

Born in Rome, he began his film career in 1951 as an assistant to the cameraman Arturo Gallea. From the beginning of the 1960s to 1967 Sergio D'Offizi worked as a simple cameraman, but in 1964 he was able to work for the first time as chief cameraman for a relatively unknown film with Italy's star comedian Totò . From 1967 onwards, D'Offizi took responsibility for shooting a wealth of B-films with a purely entertainment character, working with experienced directors such as Alberto De Martino , Nanni Loy , Antonio Margheriti , Jean-Pierre Mocky , Mario Monicelli and Sergio Corbucci . In the beginning his work was mainly about spaghetti westerns, but D'Offizi also photographed thrillers, comedies, erotic dramas and even cannibalistic horror films. D'Offizi was also behind the camera in several productions by star comedian Alberto Sordi .

Sergio D'Offizi has also worked for television; one of his last works was the German-Italian multi-part series “Under the African Sun”, which was made in Zimbabwe. Since the turn of the millennium, D'Offizi has largely retired. In 2011 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Foggia Film Festival .
