Sergio Parisse (born September 12, 1983 in La Plata , Argentina ) is an Italian rugby union player who is active for Stade Français and the Italian national team . He plays in position number 8 . Like many other Italian rugby union players, Parisse grew up in Argentina; his parents had previously emigrated from Italy.

Parisse made his debut in 2002 in a 30-64 loss to New Zealand . He quickly became one of the key players in the Azzurri , but a serious injury set him back in 2004. He joined the brothers Mauro and Mirco Bergamasco and moved from the Italian league to the top 14 at Stade Français.

In 2008 he took over the captaincy of the national team for the first time and became one of the most outstanding players in the Six Nations that year. Because of this performance, the International Rugby Board nominated him next to the Scot Mike Blair , the New Zealander Daniel Carter and the Welsh players Ryan Jones and Shane Williams for Player of the Year. Williams won the election.

Parisse has been in a relationship with the former Miss France and Miss Europe Alexandra Rosenfeld for some time .
