Sergiu Marian Radu (born August 10, 1977 in Râmnicu Vâlcea , Vâlcea County ) is a former Romanian football player .
Career in the club
The 1.82 m tall and 68 kg striker began his career at Petrolul Drăgășani. From there he moved to FC Vâlcea and played in the 1995/96 season for Viitorul Oradea. In 1996, Radu was committed by Jiul Petroșani . He made his debut in Divizia A on August 25, 1996 in the home win against Dinamo Bucharest . After he could not assert himself at Jiul, he moved in the fall of 1997 to Divizia B to Olimpia Satu Mare . With twelve goals scored, Radu played a key role in Olimpia's ascent at the end of the season. He played from 1998 to December 2000 for Rapid Bucharest , with whom he was Romanian champion in the first year, and then for city rivals FC Național Bucharest . In July 2003 he moved to UC Le Mans , with whom he was relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the 2003/04 season. In December 2004 Radu returned to FC Național Bucharest and scored seven goals in 15 games in the second half of the 2004/05 season . In the summer of 2005 he went to Energie Cottbus on the recommendation of the former Cottbus player and then player advisor Vasile Miriuță . There he became a regular player and scored twelve goals in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season . After the rise of Cottbus, Sergiu Radu was also part of the Bundesliga squad in the 2006/07 season . He was used in every game and scored 14 goals.
On May 25, 2007, he and his Cottbus club mate Vlad Munteanu signed a contract with VfL Wolfsburg for three years from the 2007/08 season . From January 2008 he was loaned to VfB Stuttgart for half a year . VfB decided not to take a purchase option in order to retain Radu in the long term. In the summer break of 2008 Radu was awarded to 1. FC Köln . On July 17, 2009, Radu switched back to Energie Cottbus , but was unable to continue his successful period from 2005 to 2007. During the 2010/11 winter break, he moved to Alemannia Aachen . After the relegation of Alemannia in 2012, Radu left the club and ended his career. He lives with his family in Cologne and is aiming for a career as a players agent .

Sergiu Radu played a game for the Romanian national soccer team . He was used on September 8, 2007 against Belarus .
