Settele Schwäbische Spezialitaten & Feinkost GmbH is a Swabian manufacturer of prefabricated, chilled dough and meat products based in the Schwaighofen district of Neu-Ulm . The family business supplies most German grocery chains and hypermarkets at home and abroad with Swabian specialties under the brand name Settele , but also as own brands.
history
Today's company was founded on April 1st, 1968 by Erwin Settele senior as a wholesaler for Swabian specialties in Neu-Ulm and initially operated under the name of Swabian specialties . In the beginning, the company supplied various butcher shops , canteens , hotels and restaurants with ravioli , mayonnaise and various delicatessen salads . Within a short time, the customers were then looked after with three fresh delivery vehicles. The customer base was gradually expanded to include supermarkets and the range expanded.
In 1982, Settele decided to manufacture the pasta that had previously been wholesaled in a former butcher's shop in Oberdischingen . Initially, Schupfnudeln and spaetzle were freshly made there every day. This production was later expanded to include steamed noodles , soup inserts , Kässpätzle and cabbage dumplings .
In 1985 a new production building with 1,000 m² of production space was built in the Neu-Ulm / Schwaighofen industrial park; since then, the company's production and storage capacities have been expanded several times.
In 1988 the eldest son, Erwin Settele junior , took over the management of the newly founded sales company Settele Schwäbische Spezialitaten und Feinkost GmbH . In 2008, the company founder, who had been supporting the company until then, died. In 2010 an additional 4,500 m² production and packaging area was created.
The daily production of Settele was around 80 tons in 2015. Over 50 different products are sold in Germany and neighboring countries as well as in Spain and Italy. Customers include well-known retail chains such as Rewe , Edeka , Aldi , Kaufland , Marktkauf , Tengelmann , Norma , Kaiser’s and the organic food manufacturer Bio-Verde . Settele also manufactures its goods as own brands such as Landvogt von Aldi.
