Career

society

Sherel Floranus started playing football in the south of Rotterdam at Rooms Katholieke Sport Vereniging Spartaan in 1920 , known by his short name Spartaan '20, and later moved to the Sparta Rotterdam youth academy . He made his first appearance for the professional team - six months after signing his first professional contract - during the 2015/16 season in the Dutch second division and was promoted to the Eredivisie with them at the end of the season . Floranus played his first game in the top Dutch league, to which Sparta Rotterdam returned after six years, on August 13, 2016 in a 3-0 away win against PEC Zwolle , when he won the 85th minute for Craig Goodwin , the goalscorer 2-0, came on as a substitute. After initial difficulties he fought for a regular place in the Eredivisie and managed to stay in league after a 3-1 away win against Go Ahead Eagles Deventer on the last day of the match with 15th place in the table. Sherel Floranus was also one of the regular players in the first half of the following season, but occasionally sat on the bench in the second half of the season. As penultimate in the table, Sparta Rotterdam had to go to the promotion and relegation play-offs, in which they first prevailed in the semifinals against their neighbors FC Dordrecht , but were defeated by FC Emmen in the final and thus had to go to the second highest Dutch division.

For the 2018/19 season, Floranus moved to SC Heerenveen and signed a contract with a term of three years. After initial teething problems, he fought for a regular place, but lost it in the second half of the season. At the end of the season, the SC Heerenveen occupied eleventh place in the table.

National team

At the age of 15, Sherel Floranus first ran for a Dutch national team when he played six games for the U16 national team. From September 10, 2014, he played eleven times for the U17s (one goal) and took part with this age group at the 2015 European Championships in Bulgaria , where he made two appearances and was eliminated with his team after the group stage. After at least one appearance for the Dutch U18s, Floranus played ten games for the Dutch U19 national team on November 12, 2015, but missed qualifying for the 2017 European Championship with his team . After two appearances for the U20s in 2017 Sherel Floranus debuted on 12 October 2018 European Championship qualifier in Riga against Latvia for the U21 of the Netherlands .

He has origins from Curaçao , which is why he is also able to run for the national team of the Caribbean island .
