Sherwood Mangiapane

Sherwood Mangiapane (born October 1, 1912 in New Orleans , † January 23, 1992 in New Orleans) was an American jazz musician ( bass , vocals , tuba ).

Sherwood Mangiapane was self-taught and worked a. a. with Johnny Wiggs (with whom recordings were made from 1950), Papa Jack Laine , Raymond Burke , Jack Delaney , Muggsy Spanier , Tony Almerico , Doc Evans and Edmond Souchon . From 1950 to 1983 he participated in 43 recording sessions in the field of jazz. a. also with Alvin Alcorn , Blue Lu Barker (1955) and most recently in 1983 with the Louisiana Repertory Jazz Ensemble .
