Shimotsuke (literally: "lower field"; Japanese 下野 市 Shimotsuke-shi , German '(district) city of Shimotsuke' ) is a city in the south of the Japanese prefecture of Tochigi (≈ province of Shimotsuke ).

history

The city of Shimotsuke was founded on January 10, 2006 from the former Machi Minamikawachi ( 南 河内 町 , -machi ), Kokubunji ( 国 分 寺 町 , -machi ) and Ishibashi ( 石橋 町 , -machi ).
